Welton Town Lands Trust: a lasting legacy of community support
Our Heritage and Commitment
Our History
The charity is well over four hundred years old and came about through the generosity of some yeoman farmers who contributed to it, the rents of both land and properties owned in the village.
Except for a small amount of money in investments, the income today is derived solely from land rented to a tenant farmer, of which one field is still named “Town lands”..
Our Community Support
The Trust’s Income is divided into three allocations of funds, providing support for the residents of Welton through:
December Distribution
St Martins Church
Education
The Educational third is split 50% to Welton Academy School and 50% for student grant applications.
Our Governance
The Town Lands Trust is governed by a group of Trustees approved to serve on a long-time basis, upholding Articles of Association that ensure the Charity can continue to support current and future generations within the local community.
The Charity comes under the supervision of the Official Custodian and the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales.
